Gabions lined with CC on banks of River Almond

13 January 2020

Stepped gabion walls were installed along a 10m section of the River Almond's banks at Lothian in Scotland as a method of flood control and erosion protection.

Over the years, the gabion walls had degraded and been damaged by heavy water flows, and the client therefore wanted to find a solution for gabion protection to prolong the operational life of the structure.

CC was specified due to its ability to be cut to length on site, minimising wastage, and the lack of requirement for specialist equipment - CC was installed using simple hand tools.
