In September 2018, Network Rail specified Concrete Canvas as an erosion protection measure for a series of drainage channels alongside a section of railway line at Cold Blow in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
The cutting had been subjected to water ingress and saturation from surface runoff. The drainage channels were formalised using CC to prevent any major failure, which could close the line and affect services.
An outfall channel which had suffered erosion and was in danger of slipping, was also lined, linking it to the crest channels to direct runoff water and prevent further saturation of the slope.
Alun Griffiths carried out the works, installing 1650m² of CC8™ material.
