Storm water drainage channel lined with CC at Mutanda Mine

02 December 2019

The objectives of the project at the Mutanda Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo were to carry storm and pumped pit water away from the mining area and to prevent water seeping into the ground and pits.

CC was chosen as a storm water drainage channel solution in place of traditional concreting methods and other geosynthetics. CC was chosen as it was the most cost-effective solution, and could be much more easily installed. The latter was a big advantage for the nature of the site as disruption to the mine was minimised.
