Membrane Protection

Rapid concrete protection for geomembranes and liners

Concrete Canvas® (CC) products are easy to install, cost effective alternatives to traditional forms of protective covering for membranes, that provides weathering, UV and animal protection. They can easily be applied to geomembrane lined channels, canals and secondary containment berms while maintaining their original volume capacities.

User Benefits

Rapid Installation

CCX® is quick to install and can be put into service 24 hours from hydration, maximizing installation volumes during valuable shutdown periods.

Reduced Seepage

CCX-M® has an integrated LLDPE backing reducing water seepage losses whilst accommodating differential ground movement.

Composite Solution

CCX® combines the low permeability of a geomembrane with the protection and durability of concrete.

Logistical Footprint

At 2.7-3.2 lb/ft², CCX® is over 10x lighter per unit area than conventional concrete, cutting transport, cost and carbon.

Sectors Who Use Us

CC products are increasingly being used to provide surface protection and armoring to geomembranes and liners. The unique composite construction of CC products enables a much thinner surfacing layer to be applied when compared to conventional concrete, significantly reducing volume loss. CC products are suitable for providing protection to a range of underlying containment barriers including LLDPE, HDPE, PVC, EPDM Rubber and Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs).

FAQs

CCX® membrane protection is used to provide a durable concrete armour layer over geomembranes such as HDPE. It protects liners from mechanical damage, UV exposure, weathering, animals and maintenance activities while preserving the integrity of the containment system.

CCX-U® is suitable for protecting HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, EPDM rubber and Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs). When used with GCLs, engineers should confirm that the confining stress provided during hydration meets manufacturer requirements.

CCX® replaces thick poured concrete layers with a thin, high-performance concrete mat typically 5–12mm thick. This reduces installation time, cost, carbon footprint and logistical complexity, while minimising the risk of damage to the underlying membrane.
