Culvert lining is becoming an increasingly common use for Concrete Canvas® (CC). With a more flexible and easier installation process than alternatives including bitumen coatings and poured, sprayed or precast concrete, CC also offers financial and technical advantages particularly when access is limited.
WHY USE CC?
Traditional solutions such as sprayed bitumen and concrete are becoming increasingly prohibited by environmental agencies due to their adverse effects of local ecologies. CC’s low alkaline reserve, washout rate and embodied carbon mean it can be safely installed in live water courses without adverse effects.
Unlike expensive pre-formed GRP sections, heavy pre-cast concrete sections or pumped concrete solutions, CC can be supplied in portable batched rolls which do not require plant equipment or specialist contractors for installation. CC’s BBA certification means it has a design life of up to 120 years, greatly increasing the operational life and reducing life cycle costs of existing assets.
