Channel Lining | A11 Sisak Motorway, Croatia
40,000m² installed to line newly built channels along the A11 Sisak Motorway
Project Overview
In July 2024, CCX-MAT® (CCX-M®) GCCM was used to line newly installed drainage channels as part of the new A11 Sisak Motorway in Croatia. Originally designed in 2006 and partially built between 2006-2015, this final section of the A11 motorway runs between the towns of Lekenik and Sisak. As part of the new construction, drainage channels were designed to divert rain-water run off from the motorway and its structures and into nearby streams and rivers.
Solution
To provide protection from erosion for the new drainage channels, a number of solutions were suggested including pre-cast concrete slabs. As the clients needed a rapid install, low maintenance and long-term solution, pre-cast concrete slabs were dismissed and CCX-M® was chosen as the prefered solution instead, due to the material having low maitenance requirements and being easier and faster to install.
Design & Installation
- Bulk Rolls of CCX-M® were specified
- New channels excavated and profiled to a uniform surface
- Transverse Layup
- Overlapped and jointed using stainless steel screws
- Perimeter edges secured within anchor trenches
- CCX-M® hydrated using a water truck and hose
Summary
Both the client and the contractor were extremely pleased with the speed and ease of installation of CCX-M®. The project was completed in 4 months, with 40,000m2 of CCX-M® installed by a team of 4 working 10 hour shifts
