Channel Lining | Mamsfield, Louisianna, USA
CC5® Installed for Bauxite Liquor Erosion Control
Background
In October 2024, Concrete Canvas® CCX-MAT® (CCX-M®) GCCM* was used to provide erosion control to a storm water
diversion channel at a newly extended landfill site in Mansfield, Louisiana, USA.
The project was part of an expansion of an existing landfill site. The drainage channel was designed to divert storm water
run-off from a slope of a new cell that would be filled and buried, with the client wanting the channel installed before the
cell become operational.
Solution
To protect the channel from erosion caused by the diverted stromwater, a number of solutions were considered to protect it. Poured concrete was originally specified for the project, however, the remoteness and restrictive access of the site and the large quantities of equipment and materials needed made it a costly solution.
CCX-M® was chosen as the preferred solution due to less material and equipment being required to line the channel, it could be stored on site and be easily and rapidly installed around the contractor’s schedule.
Design & Installation
- CCX-M® Bulk Rolls were stored onsite in a dry location due to the remoteness of the site and contractors schedule
- Channel and anchor trenches excavated prior to installation
- Transverse layup
- Screwed joints
- Clamping bar and concrete anchors used to secure CCX-M® to existing concrete structures
- Hydrated using water truck and hose
Conclusion
Both the client and the contractor were pleased with the speed and ease in which CCX-M® was installed. The project was completed in 5 days, with a team of 7 installing 50,632ft2 of CCX-M®.
