In 2014, Portland-based designer Neal Aronowitz began working with Concrete Canvas® material as a production material for a collection of furniture pieces.
The Concrete Canvas collection was completed in 2017 and resulted in Neal snapping up the 2017 Azure Magazine People’s Choice Award for Furniture and Lighting.
The incredibly complex production process meant each piece took 40 hours to create. The unique collection of handcrafted furniture pieces were designed to combine functionality and sculptural properties.
The Whorl Console was longlisted for the Dezeen Awards in 2018 – one of just 171 projects selected out of 3,500 entries.
The success of the collection has also lead to Neal working on an additional piece; a side table is currently in development and will be released later this year.
