Cost savings - the speed of installation of CC, its low logistical footprint, having no requirement for specialist contractors, and the flexibility of the material when dealing with non-uniform culvert profiles and construction types, result in significant cost savings by using CC over conventional remedial solutions for both masonry and corrugated steel culverts.

Environmental savings - traditional sprayed solutions, whether concrete or bitumen are increasingly becoming prohibited by environmental agencies due to their adverse effects on the local ecology. The low alkaline reserve, low wash out rate and lower embodied carbon properties of CC, mean that CC can safely be used in live water courses without adverse effects to the local environment.

Logisitcal footprint - unlike expensive pre-formed GRP sections, heavy pre-cast concrete sections or pumped concrete solutions, CC can be supplied in man portable batched rolls which do not require plant equipment or specialist contractors for installation. 

Durability - CC has excellent abrasion resistance, can withstand extremes of environmental weathering and provides robust protection against puncture, impact and animal damage. Lining concrete infrastructure with CC increases the operational life and reduces full life cycle costs of existing assets.

Prepare the substrate so that surfaces are well compacted, geotechnically stable with a smooth, uniform surface.

It is important to ensure that the CC is jointed at every overlap between layers and that those layers are fixed to the substrate.

It is important to prevent water or wind ingress between the CC and the substrate, both around the perimeter of the installation and along the joints.

It is important to properly hydrate CC, using enough water for the quantity of material used and allowing for drying conditions.
